What Is Sociology?
Chapter 1 Section 1.1
Online Week 1: Share and discuss a current news article or video that is using a sociological perspective. Post this article by March 13 and explain how it is demonstrating a sociological perspective. Comment on at least 3 other students’ posts by March 15.
Week 2/3 — Online March 19-24
What Is Sociology and the Sociological Imagination? What are Sociological Theory/History and Methods?

4. You want to participate in an Online Forum 2–Looking at your home/community with Sociological Imagination. Post a picture from your home/community along with a short (paragraph) explanation of how you are evaluating it with a sociological imagination by March 24

You want to participate in Online Forum 3: Using the article, Nacirema as a model you are to explore a ritual within your own culture but from an outsider’s view – as if you were witnessing the practice for the first time and trying to understand it. You need to post a detailed description of the ritual and tell us what it is by March 31

Make Up Week for Transition to Online June 2-June 8
You must attend a small group discussion online with me and your classmates. This will be in part a review of the class and in part a study session for the final exam. You will sign up for a session online and then attend on Blackboard Collaborate.
